Matthias Kröner, CEO of FIDOR Bank Talks Banking at the Global SME Finance Forum 2018

Matthias Kröner, CEO of FIDOR Bank Talks Banking at the Global SME Finance Forum 2018

During the Global SME Finance Forum 2018, Matthias Kröner, CEO of FIDOR Bank talked about open banking, APIs, social banking, and the failings of traditional banks regarding applications.

“I understand the regulatory need for [applications], but it’s also creating an attitude. It’s kind of, I’m superior you’re minor. There’s the proof, because customers definitely feel to be minor once they enter...You’re in this begging position,” Kröner said. “There is a lot of negative energy already uploaded before you come to the first conversation. Banks are trying to break down that barrier.”

Kröner offered welcome remarks at the event and spoke on formalization, innovation, and SMEs’ growth and productivity. He shared insight on Fidor’s core competency to translate and bridge from innovation to regulation and contrariwise.

“Whenever we come up with a new idea, we try to achieve full transparency. What is it that we do and not do...clearly defining the regulators red lines,” Kröner added. “We also try to be an ambassador of regulation. This is how we cooperate, in a very proactive and transparent way.”

More than 600 attendees represented 208 institutions and 80 countries at the Forum.
