The launch event for isybank, Intesa Sanpaolo's digital bank, was held on 15 June at the "Shard of Glass" tower in Milan. The bank is primarily intended to serve the four million Intesa Sanpaolo customers interested in using innovative services exclusively online and on their smartphones.
isybank is among the most important initiatives in the 2022-2025 Business Plan, in which the Group designs the bank of the next ten years: close to its customers, with a physical and digital presence that effectively meets their needs.
Technology investments of around €650 million for the digital bank platform will enable the Group to strengthen its European leadership in innovation.
To create isybank, Intesa Sanpaolo worked with major international players such as Thought Machine and Google.
- The digital banking platform will be designed with Thought Machine, a fintech company and leader in cloud services for the banking sector.
- Work on two region clouds has begun with Google as the foundation for our digital services.
Thought Machine's technology will be extended to the Group's wider infrastructure, including its international network.
Thought Machine technology for isybank, Intesa Sanpaolo's digital bank
Thought Machine – a fintech company that provides cloud services for the banking sector – is the technology partner of isybank, Intesa Sanpaolo's digital bank.
Thought Machine's cutting-edge technology will enable isybank to create a wide range of products that meet the needs of its customers in an ever-changing world. Isybank primarily targets young customers interested in using innovative services exclusively online and on their smartphones.
Thought Machine laid the foundations for modern banking. Vault, Thought Machine's cloud-native core banking engine, is used by major banks around the world, including Intesa Sanpaolo, JPMorgan Chase, Lloyds Banking Group, Standard Chartered and ING.
This next-generation system was created from the ground up as a fully cloud-native platform and gives banks full control to create any product they might need in a fast-changing world.
Thought Machine's technology will be extended to the Group's wider infrastructure, including its international network.
The "Shard of Glass", the skyscraper that houses isybank
isybank's operational headquarters is in Milan's "Shard of Glass" skyscraper, located at Via Melchiorre Gioia 22.
Rising 121 metres above the Porta Nuova neighbourhood, it is the first skyscraper in Milan to be an NZEB – Nearly Zero Energy Building – with Leed Platinum certification, the highest level for compliance with environmental parameters.
More than 225,000 photovoltaic panels integrated into the façade produce 65% of the Shard's energy needs, saving around 3,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
The Shard has also been awarded Well Gold Certification for design attentive to the well-being of the people who work there.
